    Thank you for that Tony,
I like Artur am convinced that my father was awarded the Virtuti Miltiari and I am sure that he is wearing that same medal in his wedding picture so I find it strange that there appears to be no record of this .
He would wear this medal proudly on all special occasions and I am also surprised to find Artur has these medals as when my father died my brothers went to Poland to retrieve any of his belongings only to be told there weren't any.
    Regards
    George

Hi George, yes, you’re correct that he is wearing the VM in the wedding photo. I had overlooked that.

Not all VM recipients made it onto the official list. There are various reasons for this. When was he married? From the photo my guess would be early post war.

    Regards,
    Tony

I believe he was sent to recover from his injuries after Monti Cassino to Scotland where he married my mother in 1946.

Hi George, thanks.. According to Artur he was married in Poland, not Scotland (or have I misunderstood something along the way?) :

"Jerzy Biedul go back Poland and he get married my mom in Pińczów near village Chroberz."

Do I understand correctly that Artur is your brother?

    Regards,
    Tony

    Hi Tony
As I am aware my father did get married for the third time to Artur's mother he was 65 & she was 38 and he died in 6 months later 1991 whilst back in the UK , I have never heard of him until his post on this thread and could be a step brother through marriage, unless he knows something I don,t.
    regards
    George

Hi George. Do you have any idea who put a new tombstone in the St Maries Catholic Cemetery where Jerzy Biedul is buried? Well done!
