Dear Andrzejku,
I have another request to you.
A friend of mine is looking for the information about Monte Cassino Cross given to cpl/sgt Antoni SRODA (born in 1910).
Is there a chance that you know a number of his MC Cross and eventually his unit?
Your knowledge and experience is always welcomed!
Thank you in advance.
Regards
Rafal
Hello Rafal,
Many thanks for your email, requesting help on finding information on Antoni Sroda.
I have been able to find the following information on Antoni Sroda, when awarded the Monte Cassino Cross his details are as follows:
Rank: Kapral
Army Number (also found on his ID Tags): 1910-23-III
Unit : 4BSK, 3DSK
Monte Cassino Cross Numbered: 12638
Antoni ended the war as a Plutowny, interesting whilst looking for Antoni's details, I only found 3 other Sroda's listed as being awarded the Monte Cassino Cross, Teodor who also served in 3DSK, Jozef & Aleksander.
Anyway I hope that the above information is of some use and help.
Wishing you and your family a Very Merry Christmas
Andrzejku

Hello Jacek,
The Monte Cassino Cross Numbered: 26052 was awarded to the following recipient:
Rank: Podporucznik

Christian Name: Jan
Fathers Name: Piotr
Date of Birth: 1909
Army Number (also found on his ID Tags) : 1909/69/III
Unit: 5 Baonu Lacznosz (5th Signals Battalion, 5KDP).
Arrested by the Latvians when his unit crossed over from Poland on the 20th September 1939 placed in a camp at Ulbrok, transfered to a camp at Juchnow on the 6th September 1940, 9th June 1941 transfered again to a camp located at Ponoj, 27th July 1941 moved to a camp located at Suzdal. Thank you very much Andrzejku for all these data !!! - as usual you help was invaluable !!!
I have bought this Monte Cassino Cross with the badge of 25th Lancers Regiment of the Polish Armed Forces in the West and I have been informed that both badges belonged to the same person. Unfortunately, there was lack of any documents. I have not got also the recipient list of Monte Cassino Cross or 25th Lancers Regiment Badge.
Thank you once again!!! And I wish you very Happy New Year!!!
Jacek
