Many thanks for your post numbered 4353, I have been able to glean the following information for you on the recipients :

1) Szer. Zdzisław Stankiewicz, Born 20th November 1924, Army Number : 1924-9-III, Unit : 3 KBatalion łączności, Monte Cassino Cross Numbered : 12045, By the end of the war he had been promoted to Kapral Pchor. and awarded the KW.

2) Plut. Alojzy Szczepaniak, Born 15th January 1915, Fathers Name : Franciszek, Army Number : 1915-17-III, Unit : 3 KBatalion łączności, Monte Cassino Cross Numbered :12030

3) Wachm. Bernard Gawrych, Born 8th August 1911, Army Number : 1911-6-III, Unit : PUK, Monte Cassino Cross Numbered : 38281, by the end of the war he had been promoted to St.Wachm.

4) Konrad Michał Wlizło, Born 19th February 1922, Fathers Name : Michał, no further information found on him

Was there a Monte Cassino Cross awarded to an Edward FAŁAT ?

I see there were two FAŁAT"s posted to 3DSk, one in 3BN the other in 5BN.

Their position in the 3DSK listing suggests their names are more correctly FAŁAT.

Many thanks for your post and Ted is correct in stating that there were 2 Edward Fałat's listed as recipients of the Monte Cassino Cross, when awarded their details were as follows :

1) Strz. Edward Fałat, Born 1921, Army Number 1921-12-III, Unit 5BSK, Monte Cassino Cross Numbered : 4452, by the end of the war a St.Strz.

2) Strz. Edward Fałat, Born 1924, Army Number : 1924-16-III, Unit : 3BSK, Monte Cassino Cross Numbered : 4435, by the end of the war also awarded the KW.

Hello Everyone.

An interesting article explaining who hung the pennant of the 12 Pułk Ułanów Podolskich (12th Podolski Lancers Regiment) first. It was ułan Józef Bruliński (MCC Nr 2304) from the 1st Squadron of the 12 PULP.

Many thanks for your reply, I have been able to find the following information for you :

Edward Fałat, 1921,

Born 11th May 1921

Died 24th January 2002

Buried at : Victoria lawn Cemetery, St Catherines, Niagara Region.



Edward Fałat's grave

With regards to the other Edward Fałat born in 1924

Married Miriam M Holland in Hull in 1947

Edward Fałat died on the 22nd August 2008 in Staffordshire.

That is all the information that I have been able to glean having searched through the following websites : Kresy-siberia, Victims of soviet repression, Polish Army Records Centre, Find my past, ancestry, 3DSK Soldiers and the internet.
