    Hello Andrzej,

    Could you be so kind and check on the Monte Cassino Recipient's List if there is the following soldier on it:

    Stanisław Adam WALERIAN (formerly WALERY), parents: Antoni and Antonina née OZIĘBŁOWSKA, born on 1918 in Wołyń (probably near the town of Ilnik Duży - Równo poviat, Kostopol voivodship).

    Probably in 1940 he joined the Anders' Army.

    After the war he left for the USA and settled near Chicago where he died at the beginning of October 1995.

    Many thanks for your post with regards to Stanisław Walerian, I have looked through the Register of Recipients and found the following information :

    When awarded the Monte Cassino Cross his details were as follows :

    Rank : St.Strz.

    Surname : Walerian

    Christian Name : Stanisław

    Date of Birth : 1918

    Army Number : 1918-118-III

    Unit : 14BS, 5KDP

    Monte Cassino Cross Numbered : 16841.

    That was all I was able to find for you Konrad.

    Surname : Szłapak

    Christian Name : Stanisław Piotr

    Date of Birth : 26th June 1912

    Army Number : 1912-166-III

    Unit : 3KBCKM (3rd Carpathian Heavy Machine Gun Battalion)

    Monte Cassino Cross Numbered : 11329

    After the end of the war in Europe, he came to the UK with his Company and after being demobbed from the Polish Resettlement Corps he found himself a civilian in a foreign country, he settled in London in Lewisham where he died on the 19th June 2006 7 days short of his 94th Birthday.

    Hello Everyone,

    I came across the following photograph of a recipient of the Monte Cassino Cross who died and was buried in Palestine during the war in the British War Cemetery at Ramleh (nowday's known as Ramla in Israel)

    When awarded the Monte Cassino Cross his details were as follows :

    Rank : Ppor.Lek.dr.

    Surname : Sadokierski

    Christian Name : Jakub

    Date of Birth : 29th December 1897

    Army Number : 1897-4-III

    Unit : 1SW (1st Military Hospital)

    Monte Cassino Cross Numbered : 42354

    Date of Death : 4th December 1944

    Buried in grave Number : Plot 5, Row K, Grave 4.

    Some references on the internet refer to him as Jerzy Jakub Izaak Sadokierski, but most refer to him as Jakub.

    That is one to think about

    Władysław Sikorski, born on 14th March 1911 in the village of Beresteczko, after the end of the war he emigrated to Argentina.

    Hello,

    I am looking for information about a soldier Stanisław Machaj, number 1924/615, a shooter in the army of General Anders, II Corps, III Rifle Division (2 Korpus, 3 Dywizja Strzelców Karpackich). He fought in the Battle of Monte Cassino.
