By the end of the war in Europe he had been promoted to St.Strz. (Lance Corporal) and awarded the Cross of Valour (KW), he came to the UK with his Battalion and after being demobbed from the Polish Resettlement Corps settled down to civilian life in a foreign land.
Eliasz Wiktor Stech died on the 16th September 1995, whilst living at 17 Battledean Road, London N5., he was cremated on the 26th September 1995.
