    I came across a photograph on the NAC website of an unknown soldier of the 2nd Corps in Italy 1945-46, I have been able to identify him:

    Zdzisław Łukasiewicz Awards and Medals

    He survived the war in Europe ending with the rank of Plut.Pchor. (Lance Sergeant-Officer Cadet) and came to the UK with his Unit, he had worked in the Culture and Press Department of the 2nd Armoured Brigade in the Middle East and in Italy.

    After being demobbed from the Polish Resettlement Corps he settled down to civilian life in a foreign land, he trained at Bradford Art College as a commercial artist, he worked for the likes of Cadbury's, Rowntree's and Waddington Games.

    On the 9th December 1953 he married Irene Millicent Wood (Born 13th February 1918, Died 3rd November 2004)

    Zdzisław Łukasiewicz working in the 1970's

    If you look carefully at the previous photograph of Zdzisław Łukasiewicz, you will notice on his desk what he was working on at the time.

    Zdzisław Łukasiewicz died on the 3rd August 1974 in Wakefield and was buried on the 6th August 1974, his wife was a widow for 30 years until her death in 2004.

    In 1918 he joined the POW (Polish Military Organisation) and fought in the war to establish Poland's Borders, for this he was awarded the Independence Cross and the Cross of Valour along with the War Commemorative Medal 1918-1921.

    Aleksander Nietubyc died on the 18th April 1975.
