Is it really "korespondent wojenny" - war correspondent badge? This is the first time I see something like this...

Your translation is correct, this is listed as being a war correspondent badge of the Polish Armed Forces in the West. It’s not an insignia that I am familiar with, and is not contained in any of my reference literature.

All I can add is that most war correspondent insignia actually identifies itself as such, rather than just being a symbol. Perhaps this is part of a correspondent patch - ? Or maybe just wishful thinking on the part of the seller.
