What's a Lanc' doing in Africa?

Off the top of my head, 617 Squadron flew shuttle raids to Northern Italy in the Summer of 1943, transiting via North Africa. There may have been others.....

I think the turret are the ultimate evidence it ain’t a Lancaster. It is just to close to the front of the plane in the picture to realistically be one imo. I still sit with the B24



I mean look at the diagram at a sorta similar angle. It would be sitting further back

Plus the engines are hundred percent radial engines ( used on the b24) and not the piston engines like on the Lancaster

Also the wing is too high to be a Lancaster, to me it is a B24.

I'll bet that's it. Possibly the B24 in the background, behind the tail.
