Authentic panzer cap?

Hello dear forum members,

I stumbled upon this rather intresting panzer cap by accident and would like to know if it's authentic or just another fake. the cap itself seems to be missing it's eagle insignia and it holds a rather intresting marking on the inside, that of the 7th panzer division, however if someone could tell me the regiment number that would be awsome as I'm having a bit of a hard time figuring out that part, looks to me like the first number could be a 7 or an 1 but the second is a bit trickier. hope to have some more knowledged eyes take a look at this piece, wouldn't expect it too be other than fake but you never know

The cut and the material seem off to me. The soutache should be tucked into the bottom seam not wrapped around the edge. The interior part of the vent hole would reveal a lot by it's shape but it's really not visible from these photo's. Let's see what others have to say.

In the meantime here is one to compare with.

Thanks for the detailed review, now I know more what too look for next time i happen to stumble upon one of these. Looking at the pictures you provided it looks quite diffrent yes so you're probably right in this being a fake one, thanks for your analysis
