The insignia might be good but the cap itself is a poorly made and poorly aged collection of material.
Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....
Artificially aged reproduction IMO. I would leave it be.

I believe it is a 1980s Janke reproduction, aged out with real insignia mounted
The sweatband looks indeed a bit like the Janke ones, yet Janke's repros were/are - as far as I know - much better than this thing (and I think most of Janke's leather bills were fluted, I must have such a cap somewhere).by drbill
Common Ebay repro with bad artificial ageing--he couldn't even spell Stirndruckfrei right!
