Is it actually a German cap? construction is very similar to my Australian WW2 50's issued one.
Anyway I'm not an expert on these, just laying it out there.
Hello,
I too am no expert on these however, could it just be an Australian hat, as René has previously stated, but with a German cap tally attached to it? Repro cap ribbons are easy to find. The shape also looks off for a kreigsmarine cap to me but I easily could be wrong.
Just trying to help.
Regards,
Daniel
Yeah I agree - new to kriegsmarine caps so still learning! thanks
"Please", Thank You" and proper manners appreciated
My greatest fear is that one day I will die and my wife will sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them

I enjoyed this thread. I know very little about Kriegsmarine items .What caught my eye was the name on the tally! Having built a model of the famous ship as a child, it popped right into my head. A common tactic of the crooks is to add names or features to something to make it even more appealing. As an example imagine the same cap with a U.S.S. Arizona Tally.. (I hope that makes sense) Anyhow I am very grateful to all the forum members who have kept me from making many expensive mistakes through the years!! German battleship Scharnhorst - Wikipedia

Chucking in another RAN WW2. I think the RN type is similar.
Is the cap tally joined on the left of the cap (as you wear it) ? if so it is the repro they used to sell on HMS Belfast, It was embroidered off centre to have a bow on the left RN style, Of course as mentioned by map the German style would have 2 flowing tally at the rear. Hope this makes sense. Regards Paul
