Regarding the insignia - thanks for the info that it's an assmann Al, I hadn't realised just what a variety there were out there... but I think I have found several examples by searching - like this - Late War SS Totenkopf by Assmann

are you able to give me any idea about the eagle?

I just bought a bunch of books - these would have been helpful had I had them sooner!

Books are essential but in hand inspection is the only true form of establishing authenticity. It takes years of studying and handling these objects to get a good grasp on things. In the meantime you have this excellent forum with knowledgeable members to help you vet items before you purchase.

With respect to the skull I don't believe it's a Late war Assmann but rather a Ges Gesch marked Assmann. The late war variety has three bendable prongs as opposed to the round nail pins. This late war variety also has a lot less detail in the feature particularly in the teeth and the "mustache" area directly above it. There is also an unmarked Assmann with similar features to the late war.

You can turn down the sweatband to inspect under the visor to see what type of attachments are protruding

As for the eagle I'm not as adept in identifying the types as others here on the forum. I believe it's a zinc Assmann eagle as well. I only have one zinc late Assmann eagle in my collection all the others are early cupal versions.

Others will be able to tell you for sure.

I reached out to our colleague "another ant" who verified that the skull is the Ges Gesch marked Assmann and the eagle is most likely an unmarked Assmann or less likely the rzm 155 /42 Assmann like the one from my collection.
