    Hi Guys
I'm hoping I can get some opinions on this cap I've just been offered please. I believe the insignia to be real. Although it looks like on of the pins holding the skull has either broken or bent. But the cap although I must admit looks good. It does appear to be in remarkable condition. Can anyone see any red flags?
    Many thanks

If this one was real it would have to have spent the past 76 years in a time capsule (but for the eagle). Looks brand new - particularly the leather sweatband/lining. I wonder if this is possible. Looking forward to the specialists' opinion.

Its so hard to judge items that don't exhibit any age or wear, but other than the sloppy application of the skull, all of the materials and construction look right...

The interior seems very fresh indeed, would certainly bother me.

I've had Heer and even Imperial German caps that survived in this condition, so, it's certainly possible...

Just happened to see this now: triple serial numbers on the sweatband. Check this out here on the forum, usually a dead sure sign for a post-war cap.

Good eye! You're absolutely correct...not a marking I've seen in any wartime hat...

Yes, it would be a postwar construct--they did a good job on this one.

Thank you all for your valued input, as they say......if it's too good to be true, it usually is!!

It looks like a little photoshop was used to erase the numbers in the other image.
Notice how the stitching disappears in the blurry section circled.
