Is there an open database in internet of all WWII soldiers in Russia? For example when I will find a canteen or cigarette case with the owner name and know what units took part of the battles in that region it is possible to find the person? I also collect trench art and Soviet trench art items very often have names engraved (it is very uncommon in German trench art).

Thank you for the link! I found a guy that I am looking for and he seemingly died in 1942. There is a document of his for sale, so I'm in the hopes of snatching it up.
