It has Russian surname written on it: "СЕРГЕЕВ" = "SERGEEV"
And then "1912 year". As it is too early for WWI, I guess this is his birth year.
Tell me where you found it. It can help to identify the units that passed that area.
But this surname is VERY common, so chances of finding him without his full name are slim.

Nice find ! But the cup can be Russian also, not German, in pre war period Soviet used almost the exactly same model than the German.
Very nice find and I agree, it's a Russian messtin which is almost identical.
