Hi there.
I searched again using Rolfs date of birth and he isn’t listed as a casualty, so it looks like he survived the war.
fortunately for Rolf, his brother is already too much!
I want to thank you for all this valuable information, it's very kind of you! What a beautiful collector's spirit.
For me, it's a lot of emotions to read these letters and get back into the intimacy of this family that has suffered a lot.
Thank you again and a beautiful day to you.
Warm regards
Philippe
Nice set!!! Congrats

Hi Philippe.
In a case like this we know what his injury was because of the entry on his casualty card (Post #2).
Schwer verwundet : A. G. Gesicht (Artillerie Geschoß Gesicht)
Badly wounded : Artillery projectile to the face (Shrapnel).
The entry in the Wehrpass is very basic and doesn’t give any further information. But from the casualty card we know he was badly wounded on 6.1.1942 and died on the 14.1.1942, so it is possible that page 34/35 was removed so the family didn’t think he suffered before his death (this is a guess on my part). Page 34 normally contained information about the cause of death, but sometimes entries are blacked out or changed so the truth is hidden from the family.
Here is the entry from the Wehrpass -
Am 14.1.41 infolge verwundung im feldlazarette. Feldpostnummer 38215
Verstorben
f.d.R = (für die Richtigkeit)
Major
On 14.1.41 as a result of wounds in the field hospital. Field post number 38215
Deceased
f.d.R. (für die Richtigkeit) = For the correctness of entry
Major (Signature)
Field post number -
38215
(2.1.1940-27.4.1940) Feldlazarett 611.

OK, one more nice post: I didn't succeed to read Verwundung before feldlazarett. Agree with you, he was badly injured andvthey wanted to prevent the family from thinking that he had suffered.
And FP nummer 38215 was for the Lazarett...OK
One more time, many thanks for you help! Very kind of you!
That’s ok, We are all here to help each other!
Verwundung was written Ver - wundung, so it was hard to see.
Below is a good website for finding out where different Feldlazarett were based. (Feldlazarett 611 is on that page).

I can imagine, as you said Philgilou, that a lot of emotions come up with this. Even reading the posts I feel emotions. .
