Hi Andreas.....you are correct, post 1968 wound badge, with open hinge block, second pattern short taper pin and dished rear by St u L.....a late version in the time scale, but still a nice 57er IMO !
Scorned a few years back, wrongly IMO, these later badges are now collectable and stand in line with their older brothers.......most collectors stating that they were for collectors only and not for veterans......so when the wall came down what did the East German veterans buy ?............exactly !
Now you need the black and gold ones !

I think I'll add those sooner or later... But for now I have gone for another silver grade badge.
With the flat back, long, round pin, short catch and solid hingeblock, this should be a very early S & L piece.
