Whew we Marty. A smoker. What a nice combo. I like to hear that you had dreamed about having this one in the collection. Now it is there and could not have gone to a better “keeper”. Great example of a WWII Chaplain with an Awesome liner to boot

The guys at home going abroad probably needed his guidance just as much as any of the guys already overseas. Allaying fears and anxieties. Maybe some were vets that were working on the highway that he provided comfort to as well.

You are correct, we must remember a GI is state side first and for most it was there first time to even leave their home county. The soldiers that built and guarded the Highway were cold and lonely and missing home and for a lot it was a duty before shipping out to the ETO or PTO. The ones that served on the ALCAN Highway earned the Asiatic-Pacific_Campaign_Medal.
