    Hello.

I still have these two helmets with me. They have paratrooper chinstraps and the shells are from WW2 production.
Both are heavily worn, rusty, and painted over.

I've seen this dark OD color several times.

As for the color, can someone determine the time period?

    1970-1980's? Or earlier?

    Thanks and Greetings

From all i've seen these dark glossy paint jobs have always been associated with Korea especially the Liners of that timeframe.

There are 2 to 3 layers of paint.
The chin straps are from the 1960s.

Don't forget these shells stayed in military service sometimes for decades so multiple repaints were a common feature at depots etc.some ww2 shells we're repainted in the lighter colour in the late sixties inline with all new batches being produced at Parish.

Sleepwalker I always thought the glossy / brownish green shows KW use like Rudders says ... Then texture changes and a brighter green appears for VN and later

Usually we would start a new topic for this helmet but the helmet is a nice WWII original US Fixed Loop with original paint, straps and liner. Liner leather strap may be post war. Nice one
