It’s a WWII Strap as well

Thank you PaddyD00.
So I just bought it thanks to your analysis and I will have it soon to examine it closely ...
It is still not easy to be persuaded of a photo purchase when it comes to historical pieces.
A detail catches my attention, it is traces of white paint on the side, maybe there is something hiding underneath !!!!
Maybe you can also tell me about painting; Was there a difference between the paint on the helmets on the Pacific side and the Europe side over the same period?

Nope. They all left the factory the same OD Green. No matter where they were going. Not many like German helmets but some were camod and the Navy painted theirs a variety of colors if you look at my other started topics below.
There were two makers. McCord and Schlueter and between those two factories perhaps there was a very slight color and texture shift
Your example has darkened over time due to age and use as most have.
But this is what it would have looked like (similarly) in WWII
UNISSUED SCHLUETER FRONT SEAM LOT#354A w WESTINGHOUSE LINER

Post up Again when helmets received. The steel pot looks good to me but sleepwalker was right to ask for a maker stamp marking on the Liner. Also we can’t see the front of it either.
