I need some info on an M1 helmet
Article about: ok the number 512A puts the date of the shell around June 1943 but the liner is is slightly earlier around about September 1942 please note these dates are only a rough idea as there's no 10

A very nice gift did the guy who gave it to you tell you his history in the war.

Re: I need some info on an M1 helmet
I will look into it when I get home, but I examined it very closely last night and didnt see anything. What is "fixed bail"? and is there any where on the liner to look for more markings. I forgot to mention there is some other type of stamp on the strap, something written inside a rectangle marking but cannot read it at all.

I bought it at a yard sale for $1. The guy actually wasnt there. His daughter was getting rid of it, and she said her dad was in WW2 and didnt want it anymore

aint that the truth as this could fetch $200+ purely on the fact of its early style liner it would be worth even more if you had any info on the girls father !

Re: I need some info on an M1 helmet
Alright did some research. The liner is marked with the "inland 34" stamps and the number inside the steel part is 512A.
What does this tell me about its age of both peices and some sort of value?
thanks everyone!
