how did you remove the paint i bought a painted over d'day helmet that the marks are showing through, and id love to take of the vietnam paint
I used this stuff called "Goof Off", you can get it at any major hardware store. I use the liquid form and applied with cotton balls and q-tips. The stuff is pretty aggressive so be careful. I have tried to reserect 5 helmets. Three was we pretty successful with while two others I made quite the mess of. Luckily the two I screwed up seemed to be of no significance. It's a time consuming process too but all good things come in time.
Good luck and can't wait to see what lurks behind that post OD paint.

on the front yes, but the back worries me a bit i dont know if there are any marks on the back (i dont have the helmet yet) but im also hesitant to flake of the paint and having it pull of the original and hand painted paint
Goof off is good stuff.
I used it on a D Loop.
Here is before, during and after.
Not in that order.
The last photo is obviously a BEFORE pic.
