M1 Camouflage Helmet Liner

Article about: I recently acquired this M1 helmet liner and I am trying to figure out why it is painted camouflage? Thanks to this site, I know it is a Westinghouse liner. Any help is very much appreciated

Close up of the liner so that the paint can be better analyzed.

Here's a few more pics. Looks like the paint has been on there a long, long time. Looks like a "37" above the Westinghouse logo, if that means anything. Another thing I noticed. The holes in the helmet are aligned with the other rivets?
