So to keep this story short I was doing some cleaning in my basement and I found an old M1 helmet that I bought from a friend awhile ago.

The helmet has a ream seam and OD3 chinstraps. The heat stamp marked on the inside of the helmet is "1134D". I believe the helmet is late WW2.

I found this chart of WW2 helmet heat stamp dates online. It appears my helmet is from December 1944 - February 1945

Thank you. Would you happen to know if this shell is Schlueter or McCord?

Not exactly true I have seen removable nape straps that were made with OD3 and OD7 fabric and those were made size specific S M and L. the 50's introduced adjustable nape straps all the way to 1963.

Very late December to Mid January with that heat lot number to say the least. The number (Not talking about heat lot numbers) (Talking about actual number of helmets produced per day) depends on how many M1's were made each day per lift of disk's.

So you forgot you had the helmet. I bet that was a nice surprise to find to all over again.
