NICE 1942-43 McCORD FIXED LOOP M1 SET

Hi Guys

This one came with a lot of a couple other helmets I purchased that a Gun Dealer (now friend) wanted to get rid of so a helmet collector could have. I pulled this one out for my collection. This was found by a picker right by Parris Island in the early 90s. No indication of Marine use and probably just a coincidence. Not marked in any way. No insignias. No camos. Just a textbook. What I liked about this one was the nice condition of the early shell. Usually some of the Mccords I have ..have darkened over time but not this one. It has a great color and doesn't seem to have been handled that much at all. The Liner is a Firestone w green painted A washers w green buckle strap. They seem as if these were a set and have been defintely for 30 years. Liner is marked Firestone and has "GIO" also factory stamped underneath which I haven't seen before. Early lot Number on the Shell reads 154B. It has a Raised Buckle and J Hook w the sharper edges. Gotta love an M1. Thanks for looking!

Perfect the way a complete set should look just the right amount of age and wear to it's patina can't ask for more in a field used ww2 combat set.glad you found some gun dealer friend/s thanks for sharing..........
