Unusual insignia front seam M1

Hello All

My first post and reaching out to you experts for some help. I have this front seam M1. The helmet has been pained a blue/grey some time ago and is fitted with a 1952 Capac Liner that has also been painted blue , helmet is stamped 1097A , the 10 is very faint but zoom in and you can see it

Helmet also has a leather chin strap that has been riveted to the swivel bails. The helmet also has VIEO 84 scratched onto the outside

It has clearly been repurposed post war but what I would really like to know is which army or navy as I can’t find any info on the insignia that is painted on the front , any help in identifying this would be appreciated ?

Hello NPW,

That is an Italian used helmet. I believe Air Force, but am not 100% sure.
