Hello,
today about this helmet. It is a US Paratrooper M1C with a camouflage pattern parachute silk cover.
The helmet itself is a 1950's McCord heat stamped "M-31B".
The liner is from the Firesone and probably from the early 1960s.
The cover is sewn like a normal helmet cover, with 6 drawstrings and openings for camouflage material.
The carrier name in the liner reads "JAMES P. MAGLEY" Servicenumber: 16691076. The name tag is sewn into the sweatband.
Could it be that the 16 here stand for the states of Illinois, Michigan and Wisconsin?
Regards
