    Default US M1 Fix Bale

My friend visited a few weeks ago & brought a couple of helmets to show. One was this M1 fixed bale, Westinghouse liner. I was assured the net is an original, when applied ?...anyone's guess as all nets are. The helmet was not for sale, but it has the look & wear I like to see in an M1, plus it is "laundry" marked in three places. So much fun to handle the last few weeks.

The main issue with the US M1 is determining if the interchangeable liner is originally matched to the shell. I thought this pair convincing, so he went home without it

    David,
I really like this early fixed loop helmet. The green buckled leather chinstrap is wonderful.

David, on the leather chain strap is the buckle rolled or flat. You can flip it open and the bottom rim that touches the leather will be flat or rolled. The flat is the earlier buckle.
