WWII USN DAMAGE CONTROL SCHLUETER M1 HELMET w IMP LINER

Hi Guys

I think I just felt like posting. I have never posted this one before. I have had this one for a long time. What I liked about it was it doesn't seem as if it was used that much after WWII or stayed on board a ship for 40 years as many Navies did. The cork is well intact. The Liner is a rarer seen International Molded Plastics in Killer Condition w Unpainted A Washers. The font and markings on the helmet also gave that old timr0y font and feel a opposed to the spray painted stencils that came later. All is all a well preserved Damage Control M1 from WWII. It started life as a Fixed Loop and must have been converted to Swivel at port aboard a ship as it has a Lot# of 69A. The sailor would have worn this during General Quarters and Battle Stations when the Alarm sounded to conttol fires and make repairs. The bright red designated them as priority teams and designated their responsibilities on deck. I pictured it with some other WWII Navies from my collection

Z man that's just plain nice indeed,lovely condition like you said hasn't been kept at sea for the salt to erode it.you appear to like all Helmets navy related it would seem. you have certainly amassed a beautiful collection of Naval steel pots my friend well done.
