Thank you for the information Sir, much appreciated.
original RZM 52 skull and wagner eagle RZM M/8
I stand corrected. The cut outs from the eye and nose cavity did look a bit off on my phone. The additional material below the jaw is not normal, but seems to be pulled a bit outwards. Another ant and Carlsson are the ones with expertise in this matter.
Thank you all for the much appreciated comments and expert guidance, I learn every day as we all should do. The cap itself I am convinced is an early type not to be confused with the very well known, profusely RZM marked later types. The interior of this one as well as the overall construction is exactly like the Imperial flat caps, albeit with an already higher front. Furthermore, I can see that the prongs of the eagle are inserted in earlier holes with slightly less distance between them , probably for the earlier "party" eagle. This type of cap is well photo documented in Silvestri's "Black and Field Grey Uniforms of Himmler's SS", and quite often seen worn with the brown/grey SS-VT uniform (as is the black helmet).
