Evaluate this Overhoff TK on a cap

This was just listed, a nice black SS cap sporting an Overhoff TK that made me instantly think it's a copy. The Overhoff design is the most simplistic of the TK's but this particular one stands out in my mind.



It reminds me of this old fake that simulates a cupal Overhoff.

Notice the soft detail around the nasal cavity and eye orbits. Perhaps I'm mistaken but compare it to my cupal Overhoff's and note the difference. What do you think fellow skull savants

I'm certain it's a cast copy. When you click to enlarge this photo you can clearly see the cast flaws in the eye orbits and nasal cavity. Also the simulated cast shear marks around the edges of the skull. You have to do your homework and rely on yourself to avoid making costly mistakes.

I am sorry to differ on the type of copy that it is, it is an old acquaintance and not that recent copy that you show.

by the way the eagle is also bad, but they do not put a close up photo because it is easier to spot , this and the effort into achieving a believable wear-and-tear effect in the skull I am inclined to think that it is not an oversight, is bad intention.



Can't comment on the hat, but something says "run away" after seeing the good examples shown by you and other collectors in other threads, though in the end, it's only $7,075.00 the risk of being disappointed.

Yes I believe you’re right about the skull. The eagle was not clearly photographed so I could not comment.

Edit: after re reading the listing the website clearly states the eagle is a collector replaced reproduction

You don't see very often OVERHOFF skull on allgemeine SS visors...Just this for me is a red light
