Hi guys (and of course Aldo in particular)
I´m not into buying this one but am just curious if it is an original Overhoff or not. Never mind the rather ugly looking screw on the backside.
Best,
Jan

Hello Jan, thank you for the vote of confidence but I'm certainly not the authority on these. I do own a lot of skulls so I am familiar with what to look for in fakes. In my opinion this is a clever fake that mimics the rear of the badge nicely to the untrained eye. On the front I highlighted a few areas that have cast flaws or defects you would not see in a crisp stamped skull. The edges also have an excess rim as highlighted also indicating casting. The rear although configured correctly looks like the attachment points are just blobs of metal resembling the real thing. This a tough one that would have fooled me when I first started out. I'm sure you'll get more opinions soon. Good luck
Here are some from my collection for visual comparison.
Regards, Al
Thanks a lot Aldo. The areas you pointed out clearly look like cast flaws. Learning more here every day.
Best, Jan
Aldo points out the flaws. A bad one indeed.. This particular example has been discussed on this forum a few years back.
