    Hey, everyone,

I just purchased this SS Totenkopf and this being my most expensive purchase so far I wanted to get some more eyes on it to make sure it's good. Based off of my research it looks good to me, but I know that lately there have been really good fakes floating around out there and wanted to double-check

A nice worn original Deschler. The back shows some excess solder. It seems that the pin on the right has been repaired, but we can't see much of this. Probably best to post such items here on the forum first, before making the decision to purchase them. Like you mention yourself, the reproductions are sometimes hard to judge. A few more eyes with experience can help a lot.

Photos in natural light are best with a one colour background.
Looks ok from the poor quality photos, but hard to say for sure.

    Thanks, everyone!

Yes, the pin has been repaired. It looks like it snapped at some point and someone (possibly the former owner?) soldered it back on.

Here are some (hopefully) clearly pictures of the skull, along with a couple pictures from the dealer site I got it from (my apologies, my phone doesn't like to focus when I don't have the flash on. It takes nice big detailed pictures when it wants to, just whenever it doesn't focus I get 4MB+ of blur... -.-

I thought I recognized the skull from the Wehrmacht militaria site but the bent pins threw me off. You really shouldn’t bend the pins, they can snap very easily. I know it’s tempting I’ve done it several times myself. Nice skull

    Thanks!

For sure! Yeah, I definitely plan on never moving the pins again, it would break my heart if one of those were to snap!
