TK's - "The Dark Ones"

One of the main things I love about collecting Totenkopf's is the variety of patinas. No two are alike, exhibiting different colors and and patterns in the finish. I present the "Dark Ones," those sculls that have taken on a dark look and appear almost black in certain pictures. They are some of my favorites with a very sinister look to them. Feel free to post your dark TK's

Very nice Karl! Better yet, attached to a nice cap. I refer to these types as the "Mottled" ones in my collection. Speckles of finish creating the mottled look. thanks for posting

I really like the dark, tarnished examples. I know that this early Deschler & Sohn example with the D.&S.M. Ges. Gesch. Markings is silver plated, maybe this is the reason for its dark appearance. The other examples below turned black on the bare metal. Great pieces shown above, Keep them comming!

Beautiful skulls Martin! Thanks for posting.

On my Kornacker visor, the Deschler skull has lost most of it's finish on the dome area revealing that blackish patina. It's slowly turning to the dark side.



On my Fewegla visor the cupal Deschler is showing that mottled look and exposed copper layer from excessive wear
