M5A1 Stuart wheel, Forest find

Hello all

I have this M5A1 Stuart wheel dated April 1944 in my collection which was found in a forest nearby (Netherlands, close to Arnhem/Nijmegen)

It still has some spots of paint, my question is: is this paint the original tank color?

Seeing as the backside is clear of black paint, it can only be either field painted, or done post war

There also are these small green spots all over the wheel, any idea's?

Agree. I would doubt that square shaft and bracket are original

The black spots are actually spots of tar, probably done by a farmer re-using it.

Uncovered a new marking on the rim itself
Says: F M C (or O) with 2 unreadable digits behind them

FMC is most likely Ford Motor Company
