The Tiger I was renowned for its excellent protection. This section of front armour, on display in our temporary exhibition "Le Tigre à cœur ouvert", comes from a Tiger I cut up by scrap merchants after the war. Its thickness of 10 centimetres protected the tank from most blows. The quality of this protection also came from the alloy of its steel, made up of carbon, chromium, molybdenum, manganese, nickel and silicon.
