It would certainly appear that the relics under the water have faired much better than the ones on the surface.

Hey mate.
A New Zealander turned up 2 years after everything had been dumped and took as much
as he could.
He washed them down, changed the oil, batteries, and wiring and they all started and were sold off.
He got trucks, jeeps, wheels, etc....
On one of his return trips, his salvage boat hit the reef while lifting something out and sunk.
I saw it and it's sits in 15m of water standing up right.
I think all the stuff on the beach are left overs of what he pulled out.
There are boxes of Coca-Cola, Uniforms, etc... down there.

I believe Steve Irwin (the late Crocodile Hunter) dove off of Million Dollar Pt. during a documentary he did called Ghosts of War. He put on an M1 steel pot and held a relic garand while he was many feet under water/ in full scuba gear.
