M42 ss dd?

Hi all

So I bought this helmet many years ago because somebody was ending his hobby. A big red flag in my eyes are the decals because a M42 with a DD is rare or I think non existent.

I removed the rust where the maker and lot numbers are because you couldn't see the at all.

I think the lot number is 4384 with maker CKL 68.

Somebody told me once that they converted many police helmets to SS during the war but I don't know if that is true.

So what are your opinions about this helmet/decals?
Correct me if I'm wrong on anything because I want to learn from my mistakes.
