Here's my SS lid I bought in the summer. I'm pretty sure that the liner is a replacement, and that the chinstrap may be a repro.
but what do you think of it? I am hoping it's authentic.
thanks cats

Mate i can't see anything good about this one
i don't like the paint , the rusting and the runic decal looks like a round bottom fake i'm afraid,

Thought shall be the harder , heart the keener,
Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.
We who are old now shall not leave this Battle,
But lie at his feet , in the dust with our leader

Very sorry, but I can only agree with Paul's comments.
Cheers, Ade.
Ouch
I didn't think it was all quite there, I didn't lose out much on this one.
thanks for the information.
It's still a period lid though right? Just faked to be ss?
The helmet shell itself is original.
Cheers, Ade.
There is always a little light
thanks
Everyone hopes for a deal you know...lol
I bought it from a coin dealer. Coin dealers always seem to wind up with medals for some reason. I guess becasue they are round
So he got this from a person with another helmet, an Africa Corps one, and he was really trying to sell that one to me, but it was way to suspect. So I kind of look at it like I didn't get burned for two helmets.
It's still a period piece, and I don't mind that. I paid what a regular helmet would go for around here from the guy. So I'm not too upset.
All is well
but thanks for all your help guys...I'm learning.
