The link to the helmets site contains some good info, however I would caution in placing too much faith in the author.
If anyone is thinking of buying any SS helmet, the book
"SS Steel" by Kelly Hicks is
vital reading. Spend £50 a good book before wasting a four figure sum on a bad helmet.
Cheers, Ade.
I've got Hicks' book, been collecting over 45 years, and only have one good SS lid that I got in 1967 or 1968. I have more trouble telling a Pocher from a Strache, and all variations thereof. Probably because of my ADHD. I probably will never buy another SS lid, unless it comes off Max Wuensche's head. The last one I saw--which I believe was good--was in a store in Ste Mere Eglise, but at 7,000 EUR was a bit out of my price range.

I would say Strache made Heeres decals, and most of them used on the reissued helmets. They are easily recognized, they made not in high quality and black color easily removed till the silver base
