Hello everyone. So I just picked up this apparent WW2 Croatian SS Helmet at a Gun Show in Ontario, Canada. Gentlemen who sold it to me had it labeled on the tag Rework and Croatian M40 (I should of asked him more questions but didn't. I regret not asking now. It was an impulse buy)

You can clearly see the lot number 21975 with the other number EF66 and on the leather chin strap (can't make out the first letters) _ _ _ ISPOMER 1941 NEU-ULM

I believe its a steel case and it has the rim bent over on the bottom of the helmet.

Found this video on YouTube and got a lot of insight to the possibility of the details of the helmet. As I believe (with my little knowledge that it was or could of been a reworked Waffen SS Helmet reissued to the Croatian Volunteer Solders in Germany during WW2

I also found old posts on here from 2008 which is what led me to sign up to the forum.

Anyways I hope to find some more insight. Any help would be appreciated..

My greatest fear is that one day I will die and my wife will sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them

The decal is fake the strap is fake, rework probably means he reworked it himself.

Probably a decent helmet at some point before the guy "reworked" it.

That's too bad. Looks pretty cool on my shelf. Still happy I bought it.

I learned a lot reading about helmets and some specific history, and at least I know more and maybe in the future, I will come across a real one. Plus I found this amazing forum.

    Thanks for the help.

As long as you only paid a price in keeping with a repro and you are happy then you are OK.

A genuine item would have been very pricey!

Welcome to the forum BTW, it is an indispensable "collectors tool"
