A friend asked for opinions on this EK1 and IMO its original considering the frame, core pin and catch. I saw no problems with it but may I have your thoughts ?

There are certain details that make this appear to be a Funcke & Brueninghaus. An angled photo of the catch may shed some light. Additionally, if that is a Maker's Mark below the catch, as Woolgar has said, you may save yourself a lot of searching by telling us the number.
