Re: Geheime Feldpolizei (GFP) / Gestapo set

Interestingly, in 1948, he was contacted by the French War Crimes Commission. They were trying to track down an SS-Obersturmführer Dreschler from the Das Reich Division and wanted a photo of Dreschler presumably to establish he wasn't the same guy and eliminate him from their enquiries.
I often wonder what the other Dreschler had done that the War Crimes people were after him !
Interesting that he was released from both British and American custody as a member of the Gestapo presumably he must have already been through the interogation process . I wonder if the Officer from Das Reich had been involved in the incidents at Tulle etc in 1944 or something in Normandy as i can't find his name in any records of Oradour !!

Thought shall be the harder , heart the keener,
Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.
We who are old now shall not leave this Battle,
But lie at his feet , in the dust with our leader
