    That's the date he was awarded the wound badge, not when he was injured. 29 ID weren't in combat in March 1943 as they were reforming after Stalingrad. Have a look at the Lazarett pages to see the rough date of his wounding.

    An interesting book , looks like he was wounded with 13 (IG ) Kompanie Infanterie Regiment 71 . almost certainly during the Stalingrad fighting

    The wehrmacht licence from the same soldier. A small , but great group.

    Looks like he suffered kidney problems (Code 23) and was then released from hospital. I can't quite read the last entry but I think it mentions Granatsplitter (Shrapnel) to various parts of his body including his forearm. As the fighting in Stalingrad had finished by the time that entry was made then it looks like he was injured during the fighting and possibly flown out of the pocket (last flight out was on 23rd January 1943).
