Re: New Photo Pick-Ups - Please Share
i can't read all of it. perhaps someone else can, but you have:
"in memory of your..." (can't read the name)
then on the left there's an address: (can't read first word)... "Schneiden(mandel??), Ringstrasse 33."
"Hammerstein, the 1st of June, 1942"
Sorry I can't be more precise but I think someone will certainly happen along to clean this up.

It says:
"Zur Erinnerung
Ihr
[signed]
Wohnhaft: Schneidemühl,
Ringstr. 33
Hammerstein, d. 1.6.42"
...i.e.:
"As a memory
your
[signed]
Address: Schneidemühl,
Ringstr. 33
Hammerstein, 1 June 42"
Schneidemühl [Polish name Piła] is a town in West Prussia, now northwestern Poland. There are more than half a dozen towns named Hammerstein, but in this case it is most likely the Hammerstein in West Prussia [Polish name Czarne], located some 70 kilometers from Schneidemühl/Piła.
The man in the photo is an official [Beamter] of the Heer.

Yes Dean, it appears that 5 of the 6 men are wearing field grey O/S caps. I didn't notice it until I posted it.
