Odd photo: German halftrack with Soviet red star in France?

I don't know what to make of this photo. There are vehicles with WH plates. The halftrack looks like it has a red star on the front. The soldiers on foot have German helmets with a vertical white stripe on the front. The guy in the back of the halftrack looks Russian. The civilians look French. And there is a flag I don't recognize flying above the truck on the right. WTH?

If the flag is red and white, the city of Utrecht has a flag of red and white diagonal halves......

This is a very interesting photo and I wonder if was taken in Poland. I say this because the Germans and Russians invaded Poland together in 1939, hence the Russian looking soldier to the rear of the halftrack.

Is there any writing on the rear of the photo?

I think you're right! The red and blue look almost alike in B&W.

Thanks, this bizarre-looking photo is starting to make sense. I recall seeing similar uniforms in a video about the liberation of Prague, and I also saw a German halftrack (not the one in the photo) being paraded.
