    A 1941 photo of a lone German soldier marching past an abandoned KV-2. I believe this was during Barbarossa and seems to be the KV-2 accounted by other photos from Germans as “near Ternopol and abandoned due to lack of fuel.” More likely a mechanical failure with all the trash strewn around the tank. The location might be in one of the wooded portions of the Podolian Upland closer towards Lemberg. As seen in the image below, the number 38 has been chalked on the mantlet below the barrel.

    Nice couple of pictures, interesting that it is parked by the trees which might also suggest that the crew were taking some preventative steps against aerial detection?
