    Please have a look at this Browning machinegun that was found in the south of the Netherlands.

    Is this a tank MG or is a badly damaged infantry MG with a missing pistol grip?

    This relic has a bolt retracting device. Does this mean it is a tank MG?

    It’s not a bolt retracting device, it’s a bolt hold open device. I think the early guns had the bolt hold open as standard but the later guns did not. I believe it was reinstated later and the chances are these guns ended up in tanks.
