Thanks guys AT-I left lots of it there where I found it , it is getting full at my place too.I dread the day I`ll move from the house I rent , will need an extra lorry just for the rust

The bakelite piece is the bottom part of a German karbide lamp, there should be a swastika on the handle.

Very nice Our house had loads of those installed(We got electricity on 1947-48), now my suspicions are confirmed, they really are German WW2-era. There are a couple of German forts nearby, now I know where my grandfather got all the wiring....
