The icon in the original post looks much older than WWII, in my opinion.
Yesterday's foray into the field where he was previously the Iron Cross. Unfortunately, did not survive the Nazi party badge in good condition.
As an American, it always amazes me to see people casually digging up coins and artifacts that are hundreds of years old or even more. In This country, the oldest thing we might encounter is a stone arrow head, and the laws in the State where I live prohibit a person from even picking one up if you see it lying on the ground.
